Frequently asked questions

The service

What is Hanoi Dental Guide?

A personal service that helps foreigners in Hanoi find a suitable dentist, arrange an appointment and communicate with the clinic. We are not a dental clinic and don't diagnose or treat.

Who can use it?

Anyone from abroad who needs a dentist in Hanoi: expats, tourists, digital nomads, international staff, families and people who travel to Hanoi for treatment. Simple and complicated questions are both welcome.

Do I need to know what treatment I need?

No. Describe the problem or what you want, and we help you find a dentist who can examine you and explain the options.

Is Hanoi Dental Guide only for Hanoi?

Yes. For now we only help with dentists in Hanoi.

In which language can I contact you?

In English. We communicate with the clinic in Vietnamese or English, whichever works best.

Costs

Is it really free?

Yes, for finding a clinic, arranging the appointment and normal communication with the clinic. You pay the clinic for your treatment. A local companion who goes with you is optional and paid.

How do you earn money?

Partner clinics may pay us a commission when we bring them a patient. We tell you when a clinic we suggest is a partner. The optional companion service is paid by you, at a fee agreed in advance.

Will I pay more because of your commission?

Our aim is that you pay the same as when you book directly at the same clinic. We only promise this for clinics where it is agreed in writing. You can always ask the clinic for its own price list.

Do you only recommend clinics that pay you?

No. We suggest the clinic that fits your needs. If a clinic outside our network fits you better, we tell you. Our network is limited and doesn't include every good clinic in Hanoi.

Who do I pay for the treatment?

The clinic, directly. We never handle payments for treatment.

Appointments and emergencies

How quickly can I see a dentist?

That depends on the clinic and the treatment. For urgent problems a clinic can often see you the same or the next day, but we can't promise it. We tell you honestly what is possible.

Are you available 24 hours?

No, we are not a 24-hour emergency service. At night, the National Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology at 40B Trang Thi says it runs a 24/7 dental emergency service (024 3826 9727). For severe symptoms go to a hospital emergency department or call 115.

Can someone come with me to the dentist?

Yes, a local companion can go with you as a paid extra. The companion helps with practical matters and communication, but is not a professional medical interpreter. See Personal assistance.

Can I change or cancel an appointment?

Yes. Let us know as early as you can and we'll tell the clinic.

Medical questions and trust

Can you tell me what's wrong with my tooth?

No. We're not dentists and don't diagnose. We give general information and make sure a dentist examines you.

What if I'm not happy with my treatment?

Questions about the medical result go to the dentist who treated you; we help you contact them. If you're unhappy with our service, tell us. See Complaints.

What do you do with my information?

We ask only what's needed to help you, and we share it with a clinic only after you agree. See Privacy.

How is this related to DentistInHanoi.com?

Both are run by Silenrock OÜ. DentistInHanoi.com is an independent directory and information site where clinics can't pay for a listing. Hanoi Dental Guide is the personal help service, and can receive commission from partner clinics.
